Trane’s complete chiller range on HFOs

As the move to low GWP refrigerants gathers pace, Trane has announced that its entire European portfolio of water-cooled XStream and air-cooled Sintesis chillers is now available using R1234ze.

With this announcement, Trane says it will be the first in the industry to offer a combined portfolio of screw compressor chillers and high- and low-speed centrifugal chillers with a near-zero GWP refrigerant option.

The new solutions will be part of the Ingersoll Rand EcoWise portfolio of products designed to lower their environmental impact with next-generation, low-GWP refrigerants and high-efficiency operation.

Trane first launched an R1234ze chiller last year with the Sintesis eXcellent. It announced an expansion of this in April of this year with the release of XStream water-cooled versions.

The Trane portfolio featuring R1234ze refrigerant now consists of a full range of screw and high speed centrifugal chillers designed for medium capacity applications between 240kW and 1670kW.

In 2014, Trane pioneered the adoption of another HFO refrigerant, R1233zd(E), with the launch of the Series E CenTraVac water-cooled centrifugal chiller. This was the first chiller in the world to use the a low GWP HFO as an alternative to R123, and covers the large capacity requirements of up to 14,000kW.

Combined, Trane claims that this is the widest portfolio of chillers on the European market available with near-zero GWP refrigerants.
