Flammable refrigerant training offered
BESA Training and Logic Certification are now offering offering training and qualifications in the handling of flammable refrigerants.
The courses are based on a specification laid down by the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Board (ACRIB) to counter the lack of knowledge and experience amongst engineers of the new low GWP flammable refrigerants which are now entering the market.
The ACRIB training specification focuses on those refrigerants that have a flammable or low flammable classification – officially classified as safety category A2L (HFO and HFC R32) or A3 (HC or hydrocarbon). It is designed to allow the air conditioning and refrigeration engineer a better understanding of health and safety regulations applicable to the safe use of flammable refrigerants when planning, installing, commissioning and decommissioning of RACHP equipment.
Although training and qualifications focused solely on hydrocarbon refrigerants have been on the market for some time, ACRIB developed this new specification to ensure that training could be broadened to include areas such as the difference between the flammability classifications; methods to calculate maximum safe charge sizes; equipment and component compatibility; key relevant safety and environmental standards and regulations .when preparing method statements and risk assessments.
