Daikin plans R454C and propane launches
In addition to a next generation Altherma 4, Daikin Europe is set to launch new heat pumps running on lower GWP refrigerant R454C and propane (R290).
Daikin says it will continue to offer a wide portfolio using R32 refrigerant but, In addition, based on expected high demand for heat pumps in Europe, it will also launch a new range of air-to-water heat pumps with R454C refrigerant.
An A2L refrigerant with a GWP 148, R454C is a blend of R32 and 1234yf. The refrigerant has already been adopted by a number of heat pump manufacturers, including rival Mitsubishi Electric and MHI.
In addition, Daikin says that certain product ranges will be provided with R290 “where the complete refrigerant circuit is installed outside, and where feasible from safety aspects”.
In recent months, Daikin has been steadily investing in both product development and manufacturing sites in Europe. Last year, the company announced it would build a new heat pump factory in Poland, which is expected to be operational by mid-2024.
Daikin reveals that new range will contain tailor-made components that enhance performance, add application flexibility while also safeguarding each stage of product lifecycle. It will feature a new touch-screen controller, remote control possibilities and remote troubleshooting. It will also be compatible with third party home automation systems and home energy management systems.
