AHT Highlights R290 Cases and Monitoring System on World Refrigeration Day
Austrian manufacturer AHT, part of Daikin, highlighted its propane (R290)-based cabinets and Active Monitoring System (AMS) as part of World Refrigeration Day, celebrated yesterday (June 26) under the theme “Cooling Matters.”
AHT manufactures a variety of plug-in units using hydrocarbons, including refrigerated and freezer cabinets, ice cream freezers, semi-vertical units and overhead cabinets.
As AHT and Daikin supported World Refrigeration Day for the third consecutive year, AHT pointed out that the role of cooling in everyday life is often underestimated. In addition to preserving life-saving vaccines such as those used to prevent COVID, “the use of state-of-the-art cooling technologies also contributes significantly to environmental protection and to preventing climate change,” the company said. “Equally, a safe cold chain supply is the pivotal factor in guaranteeing a safe and reliable supply of food and thus preventing food waste.’
“With our ‘green’ refrigerant [R290], we took an important step towards reducing CO2 [equivalent emissions] more than 15 years ago,” said AHT CEO Martin Krutz. “With our new Active Monitoring System, we have developed a tool that allows our customers to monitor all their devices briefly and thus prevent food spoilage.”
The waste of 475 million metric tons of food could be avoided with proper cooling, noted AHT, adding that by 2050, humankind will need 60% more food.
